The plan to extend this hospital is part of the actions carried out by Panama’s Caja del Seguro Social, in order to strengthen the health services network. This centre is located on the Pan-American Highway, just outside the city of David and in the way to Paso Canoas (to the west).
The project includes the accurate urbanization plan to lay out the new building in relation to the existing one. Likewise, the reform of the latter is proposed to renew materials and equipment to adapt to current regulations and needs. In addition, a connection between both buildings is proposed through a bridge on the third floor.
The building is organized in the large horizontal volume that accompanies the pedestrian since his arrival at the complex and serves as the backbone of the internal functions. The external consultations are agglutinated in this structure, and from here the hospital services are distributed. The hospitalization spaces are arranged at the towers.
