NEW CHALLENGE: A CRADLE TO CRADLE HOTEL IN RIUDECANYES
This is the integral reform of an old housing and commerce building to convert it into a four-storey hotel, with 37 rooms and all the necessary services. The design proposal begins by preserving the essence of the building so the volume and the existing facades are respected. It will be necessary to make some openings, with the original proportions and materiality, to fulfill the functions of the new use. The central concept is to design and re-build a building under circular economy criteria.
Riudecanyes is a municipality with 1,100 inhabitants, nestled halfway between the mountain and the sea, in the province of Tarragona (Spain). It is a quiet place, in a protected natural environment, with the monastery of Sant Miquel d'Escornalbau (a 12th century building) at the top of the town. The new hotel aims to favor the consolidation of the municipality in a pole of cultural, economic and tourist attraction.
